If Activision would only give its next game a campaign with the openness of this zombie mode, utilizing the innovation and challenge of this game's multiplayer, I think we could find ourselves with a campaign worthy of the rest of the package, rather than a big, blockbuster-style 8-hour tutorial. The blend of co-op and competitive play is something I'd like to see more of in other games.Īll told, between the zombie mode, the multiplayer, and the solo campaign ( however lackluster the campaign may be) this is the best Call of Duty game I've played, standing leagues above Modern Warfare 3. Survival-style maps played with two teams that can work together (before killing each other off) add a nice twist. Zombie mode gives Black Ops 2 even more replay value than it already has with its very good multiplayer. Indeed, I wouldn't even take this as a criticism, just an observation. Maybe I'd feel differently if I played fewer games. It's a lovely thing, and I'm glad Treyarch designed it this way, but it's exhausting at times to get so far and then die. I love hard games, but I'm a coward when it comes to permadeath. Honestly, I prefer the competitive multiplayer simply because the zombie mode can be so agonizing at times. The bus itself can be upgraded as well, and there's an intriguing fast travel system that can help you should you become separated from the group and the bus. Ammo is scarce, and your knife-while very useful-isn't a great comfort when surrounded by a mob.īasically you take a bus through this campaign as it sets down at several stops-a diner, a farm, etc-and along the way you can find new weapons, craft various upgrades, and set up barricades. The B23R, a three-round burst pistol, can be found within the Bus, and bought for 1000 points. If a power-up spawns within the Bus, it will stay stationary on the ground but the bus will keep moving, and if it is not grabbed, it will be left behind. Turbines can be used to put the Bus back into motion. The bus will also shut down if it is hit by an EMP greande. The Avogadro can attack the bus by attaching to it, and if the players do not attack it with melee, the bus will shut down for a temporary amount of time. All zombies that enter the bus, even when it's not moving, will also have limited speed and a special stumbling animation. While driving, the zombies can access the bus through its barrier windows, the roof's hatch, and even the front window. When driving the zombies will sprint aimlessly towards the bus and begin to breach it. Once the Bus is in motion, zombies will not be able to enter through the Bus doors. The Bus Driver will alert the player(s) to a zombie attack/breach. Players can get off the Bus as it passes these locations without taking any damage. ![]() The Bus will not stop at all safe locations along the route, such as the Pylon, Nacht der Untoten, Tunnel, and the Hunter's Cabin, that contain equipment and weapons. ![]() It repeats its looped route indefinitely. The Bus' movement is not dependent on the end or beginning of a wave, but rather a timer. The bus will not move from the starting location until a player opens the door and boards it or proceeds to a new location on foot. The Bus spawns behind of the starting location: the Bus Depot. ![]()
